How does it work?

Each buyer gets a unique plot number which is registered in BUYMEICELAND’s parent company as your property. Icelandic law does not allow such plots of land to be officially registered so the parent company remains as the registered owner on your behalf.
Land management
BUYMEICELAND manages the land as a nature reserve on an ongoing basis (at no cost to you). This, combined with the terms ensures that the land can only ever be used for the purposes of conservation.
Future plan
BUYMEICELAND plans to grow the community of land owners in Iceland and plant a tree for every certificate. The goal is to plant enough trees to make a serious impact on global warming.
What’s the story?
BUYMEICELAND is very passionate about green energy and taking care of our planet. We got a beautiful piece of land near the roots of the volcano Hekla and decided to divide it up into 1 square foot squares and give people around the world the chance to own a part of one of the most beautiful and magical places on Earth and at the same time plant trees.
We want to offer everybody that love Iceland to own a piece of it and plant trees in the process. It does not hurt that land owners can officially call themselves Vikings!

Do I need to be of a certain nationality in order to buy a title pack?
No, you do not – our certificates are available to all nationalities and ages.
Can I refer to myself as a Viking after purchase?
Yes, proudly. Even though “Viking” is not a legal title, you can tell the whole world that you are officially a Viking.
Can I buy a certificate for someone else?
Yes and we encourage it, we believe a plot of land in Iceland is a great gift. All we require is a name.
Can I choose my plot number?
Plots are numbered consecutively and assigned automatically; unfortunately we are unable to guarantee or assign a specific plot number.
How will my digital certificate be sent to me?
Your personalized digital certificate will be emailed to you within 24 hours. You can print this out and use it as you wish!
Can I print out a digital certificate and display it?
Yes of course, do it proudly!
Where are the plots of land?
The first available plot of land is at the roots of the volcano Hekla. A beautiful, magical area in the highlands of Iceland.
Can I build on my plot?
Every certificate contributes to the preservation and protection of the land. As the intention is for the land to be kept in its natural state, the certificates give ownership of the plot number but no rights to operate on the land except to plant trees and preserve nature.
